It was an important day today at Hidden Timber Soul Sanctuary.
Not because my day started at 545a, hauling wood with 9 degree-temps outside with bone-chilling cold.
Not because we are bracing for “HISTORIC” blizzard conditions with predictions of 2 feet of snow in the next 24 hours.
Not because I got a delivery today by an LTL carrier of some rubber mats that will be put down in the barns for the animals. “Some” equates to 33 mats weighing in at 1400+lbs. (Thank you again, @Kevin Campbell and your tractor expertise, for your assistance with unloading this very heavy pallet!)
It was an important day at HTSS because of who I talked to and how I was given an opportunity to change someone’s life. Honestly, it’s the people you connect with (and most of the time you never know who’s going to drift into your space, even for a second) that could change the course of … well, everything.
It started with the rubber mats delivery. Yes, let’s get back to that.
As the driver (who was also wearing a Green Bay Packers sweatshirt) of the very big truck starts moving the pallet of rubber mats to the edge of the truck, he says to me as he points to the shipping address, “When I saw this was for ‘soul sanctuary’ I wondered if this place would help my soul, like my spirit.” I grinned at him. “Yes,” I said. “That’s exactly what we’re going to do here!” He explained, “It’s my job. It’s too much. I had a breakdown the other night and my wife told me I need to talk to someone.”
“It’s my job. It’s too much. I had a breakdown the other night and my wife told me I need to talk to someone.”
A couple of my thoughts to note. Number one, I do not know this man. Never met or seen him before in my life. Number two, it’s freakin’ freezing outside buddy. Do you really want to talk about this… NOW? Number three, again, I do not know this man and yet he felt the need to tell me this very personal thing about himself.
I briefly explained that we’re going to start having yoga sessions with goats and alpacas this fall and that he should check it out. He said “Yeah, maybe I will.”
What I failed to say is “Hey, my wife is a life coach. She can you help you with this ‘shtuff’ you’re going through.” (FACE PLANT – Another thought to note: Why didn’t I mention THAT?!)
Later in the day, after beating myself up about missing this opportunity for connection, I messaged him. I had his cell number so I took the chance to reach out. I seized the opportunity.
I thought, after all, he told me about his ‘breakdown’ for a REASON.
So, I put it out there. Into the Universe.
I pray he finds help. I pray that he talks to someone.
I pray he reaches out to Tiffany because she can help!
Honestly, the whole reason Hidden Timber Soul Sanctuary was created was because we get the “It’s too much.” We personally understand and can empathize with the “breakdowns” caused by the job pressures, the family responsibilities, managing a household, surviving trauma, working through a heartbreak, losing loved ones, living with a disease or caring for a family member with medical issues and all the other things we can go through in life. It’s a lot. And often times, it is TOO MUCH.
That why, we want you to disconnect and have fun with us and the animals.
We want you to come out to the farm and hang out with the goats and alpacas for a while. Have a goat snuggle your ear while you lay on your back in Shavasana (aka Corpse pose), or maybe an alpaca will come sniff your hair as you stand tall in Tadasana (aka Mountain pose) or a have goat climb on top of you as you stretch out in Balasana (aka Child’s pose). It’s about having fun and shaking off the stresses of your normal day.
And, as needed, reach out to Tiffany for some one-on-one help.
Change the course of everything. None of us deserve to live in break-down mode.
It was an important day at HTSS.
Joy + Peace,
Kristina
